Blackboard Learn - Running Normally

PLANNED MAINTENANCE WINDOW 22nd - 29th August 2016
Ulster’s Blackboard Learn infrastructure will be migrated to an external data centre week commencing the 22nd August. More information, including the business reasons for the migration, is available in the following Insight article - and further information is available at 

Whilst there will not be downtime for the entire duration of the maintenance window, we expect Blackboard to be unavailable from Thursday 25th - Monday 29th August 2016. Further information will be provided as work progresses during week commencing 22nd August 2016.

Recent Module Access Requests

We will be moving all access and content requests to the new Module Manager application - to coincide with the switch-over to Blackboard Managed Hosting. The old Module Access Request System will be deactivated. The new Module Manager is available at: .

Requests for module access or content migrations can still be made during Blackboard's downtime, however, they will not be processed until Blackboard is back online on 29 August.

It is a support area detailing common Blackboard issues and solutions, as well as guides to help staff and students get the most from Blackboard. Top Tips

1. Students please read the start of term checklist. Staff should read the Start of Term Staff Checklist.

2. Check that your browser is compatible with Blackboard Learn 9.1, Select Browser Checker

3. Blackboard Learn is available via the portal ( or directly via the web address

4. Staff should use the Module Access Request system to request access to a module, migrate content between modules or request a Support Area.

5. If your module contains ShareStream videos you will need to migrate these. Full instructions are available on our Migrating Share Media Assets page.

6. It is important that new and returning students sucessfully complete their Online Enrolment, only registered students (status RE) will gain access to University Ulster systems (Blackboard Learn, Portal, e-mail).
